Maintenance could possibly be one of the most boring tasks I face. I like drastic, bold, captivating; mundane routines wear me down.
I want to walk into my bathroom and it be sparkling clean all the time. My dishwasher should always be freshly emptied. Laundry should be freshly folded and tucked away nicely inside my perfectly organized drawers or crisply ironed and hanging in my fancy walk-in closet. The bookshelves in my house should never hold dust, and I should have no need for a broom and a mop.
Another routine I find daunting is cooking. I don't mean cooking dinner because I found a new recipe to try, or cooking in the sense of preparing a treat for a family holiday gathering. What I mean by cooking is when I grill what seems like 4 tons of chicken or stewing 97 bushels of sweet potatoes on Sunday so I have meals prepared for the week. Like Casey tells me, "Momentum will take over, and it gets easier when you start seeing major results."
Now I'm wondering if the lesson to be learned here is to maintain the mundane so that I can later see the drastic, bold, and captivating results. Bring on the momentum.
